An open letter to the “business owner” who is trying to take my business.
First of all, i am humbled that you think my business is worth stealing. I obviously have created something far bigger and better than i have ever dreamed. If you perceive my business to be so fantastic, I don’t blame you for wanting a piece of my pie – A pie may I add that has taken me 4 years of blood, sweat and tears to make it what it is today. Secondly, great detective work! Getting mutual acquaintances to ask quotes directly from myself and sniffing about my client base thinking i wont notice is defiantly the way to go when researching my pricing and products – hats off to you.
May I also point out I thought I was doing you a favor when I outsourced work to you over some of my other business partners (with my client’s knowledge); I placed a massive trust in you handing you some of my prized clients. Telling them to place their trust in you. Trying to poach these clients off me not only discredited you as a professional but it breaks the trust my clients put in you, because I told them to trust you. Way to disrespect yourself, my clients and myself.
But when some of my most trusted client’s came to me, telling me about how you approached them (and others) with a better offer and you were trying to match my services, I was pissed. Seriously pissed. But then I thought: no. No I am not going to let your ignorance defeat me. I will feel sorry for you though; I am sorry you can’t find your own clients or your own niche and I am sorry you feel you can’t compete with me on an even playing field.
And lastly i would like to Thank you. Thank you for making me realize how fantastic my clients are. The LOYAL and TRUSTING relationships we share are what makes business worth it. I love my business and my clients and i wouldn’t change it for the world so thank you, for reminding me of this.
